#NikolaiTalks: FOOD- My Early Sign Of Depression

You guys! I don't know what is wrong with me, but I think I am going through an early sign of depression. Food has become my best friend. I just keep on eating and eating and eating whatever I see. I lost 20 lbs over the summer, but I am afraid my gluttonous ways may catch up with me oh! Once I wake up, I start by greeting the fridge and it receives me well with several options. If and when I see food, I get so excited because I know I'm about to indulge in my extreme happy moment.
My friend Precious just got back from his trip to Houston today. My friends and I (including Precious) went a few weeks ago to #TurnUp and we had a BLAST!!! So, he decided to go back to visit some babes and explore Texas a bit more. I begged him to buy me food from this one particular store we visited called 'Southwest Farmers Market' and he made my dreams come true. Where do I even begin??? From the isi ewu, to the chin chin, to the jollof rice, to the meatpies, to the agege bread...God is so good! They have the most authentic Nigerian cuisine and products. I was OVERWHELMED the first time I went because I hadn't seen a lot of the products in years! I even began taking pictures with some of the food items (included down below) and just dancing around the whole store. Lol  #MyLife #Shame . As I unpacked the food into various containers, I looked at them and smiled. I was planning how I would devour the beauties right in front of me.
I stopped buying junk food a while back as I stuck to more healthier snacks, but I have recently gone back to my old ways. I look above my fridge and I see death. I look inside my fridge and I see death. What do you expect me to do when I see that almost the whole Lindt store has gone on a 50% sale and the Farmers market is having 'Buy 1 Get 1 Free' deals for jollof rice after 9pm? I go crazy and start acting out of character.
All in all, I need prayers yal. If I gain back all the weight I lost last summer, I will be really disappointed. I have to turn away from my bad habits immediately. I know what I need to do to change my ways, but I have been slacking. Don't worry, I will make it. I have faith. Maybe just after a few more 5 more trips to the market though. Ah ah...eating is a part of survival nah!

With Your Brazilian Hair!!!

There is just something about that song 'Brazilian Hair' by Chuddy K I'm just dying for now. This song don old finish, but I'm acting as if it premiered last night. I was just grooving to it and almost knocked my food down. I can NEVER waste a plate of plantain and eggsauce as long as I shall live! (so, I had to get my act together). #Hahaha. After seeing my friend Ebelenna KILL IT to this song at a 2014 Xmas party, I can't seem to get enough of it. Though I have braids, I stay shaking my head as if I'm carrying 30 inch Brazilian on this head. Anyways... let a girl imagine joor.

I'm Officially a BabySitter!

You guys! I believe I outdid myself this week. One of my friends, Michael asked me to babysit his beautiful daughter Ada, while he and his lovely wife Mandy go out on a date. I was scared to death, because this was going to be my first babysitting job ever! I used to look after my little sister when she was younger (but that doesn't really count...she's my sister). You might be wondering why in the world I was "terrified". Here it goes. My youngest sister was the biggest challenge ever known to man back in the days (I make myself sound so old. Lol). She is so smart and talented with her strategic mind games, that she used to drive me insane. Chasing her from one staircase to the next, looking for where she might have ended up in the house, and figuring how to cut off the edges of her sandwiches without missing a single spot were only a few headaches she gave me. It got to the point where I used to run away from kids whenever I saw too many at once. Lol...sounds pathetic, I know!

---(WATCH) Ada learnt my name---

When I had told Michael I would babysit in the past, I really didn't think the day would come that he would make me honor my promise. Anyways, I said yes with a huge smile on my face, but with one exception: my immediate younger sister had to help me. He said that wouldn't be a problem since Ada would have more people to entertain her. I was so relieved! #Phewww If I was going into the battlefield, I would need some support by my side. My friend Ojo dropped us off and we were ready for what was to come. Michael and Mandy quietly left the house without Ada noticing, she was too busy playing with her toys. I couldn't believe it! She had no idea! Ok, the first part was over. After an hour, she asked "Where is my mommy and daddy?". I had no response for her, so I enticed her with the pizza that was on its way. She fell for it. "Jesus is Lord!" is all I kept on exclaiming in my head. She went about her business and began watching a cartoon. The pizza finally came about 15 mins later and she ate it peacefully. As in...no spills, vomit or wahala. I was shocked and overwhelmed with joy, but couldn't let her notice. Later on, we played more games, I taught her to count bigger numbers and made videos together. Michael and Mandy returned after about an hour and a half more and I didn't even want to leave. Ada had FINALLY learnt my name and even wanted to share pretzels with me. I was surprised that I actually had such a good time looking after a child. Lol...that sounds pathetic, I know! I had such a good time that I just agreed (about an hour ago) to babysit again today. Gotta run to make it there on time. Bye yal!

#NikolaiTalks: Valentine's Day Blues

It is currently 10.00pm and I'm still listening to these #SlowJamsOfLife. I ate a plate of yam porridge thinking everything would be settled and I would be at peace. But oh no! That is not the case. Why am I still playing these melodramatic songs? Since 7pm, when I got back into this house. Chai! Soooo... let me tell you what led to this. Keep on reading.
I was on my own oh, minding my business oh. My sister came into the house saying that one boy she met like this from our last trip is coming to town on Feb 13th for work (Valentine's day eve! Who does he think can't put the two together? I know his plan). Valentine's day then became a topic of discussion on our WhatsApp group chat we have with our friends. One of our friends said she has her own date secured and asked about everyone else. Kai! I had to tell them the truth. I got ZERO plans boo. No plans cha cha! Our male friends chimed in on the group message letting us know they were secured as well. Out of 6 human bodies, why am I the only head standing out? Well... I have accepted this as my fate for now (there is always a possibility nah).
It then began with TuFace: If Love is a Crime and has escalated to Sam Smith, John Legend, Brymo, Wizkid, Parker Ighile etc. I also dimmed the lights to set the scene. What has become of me? Lol. Some may regard this behavior as early signs of depression but I rebuke it in the name of Jesus! Being single or not for Valentine's day won't kill me. I may feel some type of way, but it won't kill me, so don't let it kill any of you out there! A plate of rice and stew with goat meat accompanied by Maltina (my good friend) will keep me sane. Thank you very much.
